so now...

i decided that i am going to choose one theme-prosperity and create a set of cards with symbols of prosperity in different cultures.

and i feel top-trump cards where the info/facts are given with an image is boring and not as interesting so i decided to merge the idea of the memory game and the concept of the informative side of top trump to make my own memory game.

basically i will have the symbol on one card and the card that pairs with the symbol is the description and origin

and the feedback for this was:

-simplify the text

-maybe place half the symbol on the the partner card, so it is not hard to figure as memory is game of the eye as opposed to having to read

-the theme of prosperity does not support the game- which means i have to link the pair of cards together somehow

and from there i thought that the whole idea of pairs and game for two was a game for valentines. a card game with LOVE as the theme/proverb.

or if i use white: is it more lovey dovey?

once again though i will need to simplify the text and find a way to connect the pairs together and also create a relationship between each card.

and also the feedback for the love cards:

-it should be more crafty and more visually appealing to represent the nature and content, as opposed to being flat/boring.

but i feel this theme of LOVE works better because the form supports the content, in the sense that it is a game for PAIRS and the game is about MATCHING PAIRS-so it works for lovers to play as a fun game. and also to learn the symbol for love in different languages.

however

people's fortunes are personal and secretive so wearing a tattoo permanent or not would realistically not work.

so that idea is scraped.

feedback and forward

after the interim crit i realised from the discussion that the symbols on the cards were confusing because they had individual associations, such as superman has its own association and may not fully connote HEROIC for JAPAN.

next steps/options:

-find symbols from each country itself & make lots of i go through with this idea

- OR: look at top trump cards- as an alternative to memory cards

- OR: choose one proverb from the range and find symbols for THAT PARTICULAR proverb in different countries.

i also thought, to push the idea of the fortune telling to see how that works out.

based on this idea of the palm characteristics, i could make my own form of reading based on proverbs.

like this: if i were to create this idea of handwritten text on a temporary tattoo sheet, so that it could be someone's fortune on their hand, written out as opposed to having to go to have it read.

are also very popular and in indian culture is traditional for a bride to decorate her hands and feet with designs to celebrate. and for many who do not want permanent ink, prefer henna.

after looking at the symbolism and creating cards for them, i felt like it was almost a set of fortune telling cards. which is what led me to create the paper fortune telling game based on the symbolism and proverbs for the colour red.

i like the idea of fortune telling and the concept of 'being handed a set of cards of fortune' and maybe i could find a way to make fortune cards? or tarot cards?

i thought of using the concept of the memory game to create a set of cards that visualise the significance of the RED in different countries.

VISUALISE PROVERBS

i chose to use a theme of COLOUR to find out the significance and proverbs regarding colours in different countries.

Red,

is the most exciting color and is known to escalate the body's metabolism. Dark red has anger implications it indicates high energy, determination, and much passion. The color red has been part of the English language since about A.D. 900. It is the primary color at the lower or least deflected end of the visible spectrum. Its name is used for shades ranging from very bright, bold red, to reddish yellow or reddish brown. Found not only in the lores of ancient medicine but in the superstitions of modern times, red has been viewed as the vigorous color of health. Red wool was applied to relieve sprains in Scotland, sore throats in Ireland, and to prevent fevers in Macedonia. The ruby, a precious gemstone with a brilliant red color, was worn in China to promote long life. The color red has also been a representation of love within a relationship between two people. A red rose, given to the bearer's lover or mate has always been known as a symbol of love. As well as the ever-popular red heart on Valentine's Day. Red has come to mean beauty, love, stength, energy, courage, career, goals, power, and willpower.Red is the color most associated with the South direction.
